Old Colstonians RFC train and play at Colstons School, on Bell Hill, Stapleton (Opposite the Bell Inn, next to the Holy Trinity Church)

OCRFC currently play in Gloucester One

A friendy, small and unique rugby club aspiring to play attractive running rugby.

Touring sides most welcome.

With incredible competition for places and OC’s looking for a third win on the bounce, but more importantly a more consistent 80 minute performance the stage was set.

Early dominance from the OC’s pack saw a series of scrums and driving mauls ending with Sam Sowden touching down for an assertive try. With the majority of the possession and good go-forward ball the backs struggled to finish chances, but Cotham Park still rarely left their half.

An outstanding 80 metre try from Olly King-Sorrell (we won’t mention the crossbar conversion) seemed to get the ball rolling with increased pressure on Cotham into half time. The second half called for more continuity and simple rugby in order to build a strong lead – so it was business as usual for Ant Stillwell and Larry Evans in midfield with strong ball carrying and big defence, soaking up the efforts of Cotham’s loose forwards and inside backs.

A slight lapse in concentration and poor discipline saw a barrel-like Cotham forward score under the posts. It was then time for OC’s to turn the screw, with Ramsey dotting over from under the posts after an outrageous pick up off the toes (something a man of his age should only be dreaming of!) from a Sam Sowden offload. This was swiftly followed by a cheeky snipe and try in the corner for Mike ball.

It was a much better OC’s performance displaying solid defence and a dominant scrum. However, the lack of discipline may have seen a less attractive score against better opposition. With a break from league action this week it is important for all squad members to work hard at training in order to return to action a more clinical outfit.
